I hope you're all having a wonderful summer. As we look forward to the fall and its cooler temperatures, I'm excited to announce our upcoming candidate forums at the end of the month! These forums present a fantastic opportunity to meet the candidates running for municipal office in our county and gain insights into their positions and campaigns.
I want to stress the importance of "non-partisan" municipal elections. While it might be tempting to overlook them, the decisions made by elected officials in these offices have a significant impact on shaping a safe, inclusive, and equitable DeKalb. So, as Democrats, it's vital that we actively participate and engage in this process.
I sincerely hope to see all of you in attendance, eager to learn more about the candidates running in your respective areas. To join us, please sign up here.
Yours in the fight,
Chair, DeKalb County Democratic Committee

Building a Bench
In partnership with the Georgia Democrats and Contest Every Race, the DeKalb Dems hosted an event at Hopstix in Chamblee for potential candidates interested in running for future public office. Our goal is to build and develop a bench of candidates so that when opportunities arise, we have a talent pool of great candidates to call on.
Once again, Republican politicians want to invade the privacy of everyday Georgians by requiring abortion-providing states to share patient information with their home state. Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr, who intends to run for Governor in 2026, joined 18 other Republican state AGs objecting to a new Biden administration rule that would protect women who get out of state abortions.
An alarming rise in pediatric gunshot wounds in Georgia prompted Atlanta area doctors to pen an open letter to the state legislature recently, urging gun safety legislation to protect kids. Gun violence is now the number one killer of kids.
Georgia U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock reintroduced legislation in Congress last month that would enforce new measures protecting local state election administrations from partisan interference and guarantee more stringent guidelines for voter registration challenges.
